overview.
Miu (legal alias, Takahashi Izumi, married to Takahashi Akio*) is a ~40 year old Zainichi Korean woman who's the official CEO of an import company passed down to her from her father, though her husband and younger brother have taken over day to day leadership of the firm. Her personal office is located in Jingumae.
She lives alone in an apartment in Aoyama during the week and with her husband in a house in Setagaya during the weekends, when she isn't travelling around Europe to arrange for exclusive wine import or concert events. Occasionally, she teaches the piano to advanced students as a private tutor.
She always dresses in sophisticated, fashionable clothes, enjoys wine tasting and classical music. She used to be a professional pianist and is conservatory-trained in France, so she speaks French, Italian and English fluently besides Japanese and Korean. She knows Mozart's sonata in C-minor by heart. In her spare time, she plays squash and enjoys shopping. She always chooses white fish and habitually skips dessert when she's eating out, being the calorie-counting type.
From the seventh grade, she attended a strict Catholic girls school. She has no lesbian sexual experience and never thought of herself as a lesbian, but neither has she been able to passionately give herself to a man since she was 25 years old. With Sumire, she wanted to love her with her mind and her heart, but her body just wouldn't respond.
14 years ago, while Miu was abroad, an event** took place that changed her forever, leaving her half a person with completely white hair that she has to dye black not to stand out in a crowd and it also made her give up playing the piano completely, before her father died from cancer a year later. At a wedding reception, she eventually meets the 17 year younger Sumire and takes her in as an assistant, and the two develop a close bond that borders on romantic.

** (SPOILERS) While staying over summer in a small Swiss town, she gets stuck in a ferris wheel in an amusement park overnight. From the ferris wheel she has a full view of her apartment, and while waiting to be rescued, she somehow observes herself in her apartment having sex with a man who has for some time been stalking her, or that was how she experienced it. It felt like such a violation that when she was found the next morning, all her hair had turned white from the shock of it.
